Angry Engenius / Senao AP Bridge Problem

Dear All,

I have a remote office (2 KM) away from my headquarter. They have both Senao Long Range Multi Client Bridge/Ap, with 24Grid Antenna. They both used to work really well for months at ~80 Quality and 11Mbps transmission rate!
One day the internet speed at my office dropped from 3 Mbps to 256kbps, I tried to play with it and change some configuration bu that didn't help.
I order my blacksmith to create a 6m tower to have better line of site (which is by default good), but that didn't help!
The transmission rate varies between 11Mbps and 1Mbps and keep changing!
I made sure that the antenna are pointing each other! but still no luck.
Today I change my other end with a flat Antenna, but that didn't help as well!
I am not sure what is going on, and what should I get to return that link as good as it used to be!
Now I discovered that if the link is at 11Mbps (no activity on the line), but once I do any activity the transmission rate drops! What does that mean!!! what the Antenna/AP is trying to tell me? How I can fix this?

Thanks,

Well, I could think of a few things you could do. Which Senao model are you using? Sounds like you are using 802.11b right? 802.11b is nice, but it just doesn't have the throughput that g has. Remember this, just because it says 11Mbps, or 54Mbps doesn't mean that you really have that speed. Especially in wireless. That is based on a perfect environment. If you plug an Ethernet cable into your PC and it pops up and says you have a 100Mbps speed, you really do not have a 100Mbps . I use the ECB-3220's on a regular bases, but not at the distances you are using them for. One solution, would be to get a router that has more functionality than the Senao AP / Bridge. If you do so, you will have a more control. This is a more expensive solution, but you could fix this problem, and be able to use the routers for so much more. Another thing is to move these AP / Bridge closer. I don't see how you are getting them to work now. I work with wireless signals on a daily bases, ans haven't ever been able to get those Senaos to reach that far. I guess you know something I don't know Are you sure that your distance is 2 km? Not saying you're not correct, but that seems like a long distance. Another solution, would to be to run these in 802.11g and add one more to the link. Another suggestion, would be to get a different type of directional antenna. Maybe go to a 1% or 2% directional. Let me know if this helped you.

Which models specifically are you using? If they are still under warranty, you may like to send them back to your dealer/ reseller to have them checked out. Given that all other conditions remained the same, they should not have had such a sudden drop or erratic performance in throughput.
