How do I get my ringtones to play on an LG headset?

Hello, all. This has been bugging me for years with LG phones and I'm trying to figure this out - when a ringtone sounds, it doesn't seem to play over a hands-free headset it's plugged in. It still only plays over the phone speaker. This is sometimes a problem when I'm driving, have the windows down or playing music in the car. I have the volume set to maximum and the new ENV2 (VX-9100) is actually quieter than the older model it replaced (VX-7000) and I occasionally miss calls. I've been through what I think are all the settings and I can find no way to re-route the ringtones into the headset, which works fine for all other applications. Yes, it's plugged in properly, and yes I can hold on conversations with it normally. Just no ringtone. Anyone know how to adjust this?

I just realized this is the wrong forum for this. When I thought Wireless-Troubleshooting I thought wireless mobile phones. Does an admin know a better place to put this question? Sorry for the confusion on my part.
