Default How do you get a DLINK 900AP+ on the air?

Just got one from borg.

Can't for the life of me get the thing on the air.
I would have thought that even straight out of the box that netstumbler would be able to see it.
Can talk to it on the wired side ok.

maybe netstumbler isn't working properly?

have you followed the setup instructions that came with it?

are you able to test netstumbler on something else?

netstumbler is working fine, it can see the other AP on the roof and the one at Kings College.

yes I have rtfm'd the manual for some time thinking I had done something dumb.
Reset the unit to factory default.

Strange

Maybe have a play with the aerial deversity (sp?), i think only one of the aerials are connected and it may be choosing the wrong one to transmit on

Hey those 900AP's are generally in AP Mode straight outta the box, 802.11b/11Mb mode
If you can't see it straight outta the box, maybe its not as new as ya thought ;-)
the reset button, I think ya just hold it in while you apply the power.
Are there lights on the unit? Are they solid/flashing?

Got desperate and fired up the AP Manager software on another windows machine on the same subnet and hey presto the DLINK sprang into life.

Didn't do a thing to it.
As soon as the AP Manager started netstumbler saw it.
Weired - would of thought straight out of the box it would at least do something.

Anyway thanks for the suggestions.
Now I just have to finish getting the mast and the Slotted waveguide up and hopefully will have a bit more range. (once I get the correct sized N connectors for my LMR400 cable)

cheers

Very strange, my 900+ worked straight out of the box

You may also want to upgrade the firmware on the AP, this may help with connection stability and a few little problems. Fireware can be found on the dlink site.
