Default Intel Wifi card issues...

I'm having problems with my Wifi card and wanted to find out if anyone has had a similar problem.
I've got an Intel 3945ABG network card in a Lenovo T60 Thinkpad laptop. This is a brand new laptop and
all my drivers are up to date and working fine.

Here's the problem: It does not detect any WiFi networks. None. EVER!
I have two other laptops that detect my wifi network and a neighbors but the
T60 does not.

I have reinstalled the driver a couple of times. I've downloaded
the driver from the lenovo support site AND Intel's web site. Same result with both.
I've used the Microsoft Wireless Network Connection software to try to detect networks, nothing.
I've used Intel's PROSet/Wireless software to manage my WiFi, that didn't work either.
And of course I've used the ThinkVantage software for WiFi, still nothing.

The Wifi "activation" light that looks like a radio-tower under the screen IS on!
XP "sees" the wifi hardware...it's listed in the Device Manager with no problems.

Since this is a new laptop I'm wondering if I have a bad WiFi card.
Before I start the whole process of getting a new card and all that mess, I wanted to
find out if anyone here has had any problems getting their WiFi to work
or if anyone has any ideas in general.

Thanks!!
Steve

Default problem

Hi there, Sounds like you have really checked everything and I would be looking to the agent you brought it from. I am assuming that there is no obscure on/off switch that you have not found for the WiFi. The Intel's PROSet/Wireless software normally shows on its diagram if the Wifi is switched on or off so you would have seen it there. As i do not have one of these the only other thought is that there might be a setting to change it from 802.11b/g only of 802.11a only that you might want to check for.
Good Luck, Dale.

Thanks for the reply.
Luckily we found another identical laptop where I work and we swapped the WiFi cards. Turns out it was just a bad card.
The problem of course is that the board wasn't "dead"; XP could see and talk to the card just fine. It was something else downsteam from the PCI interface that would pick up the radio signals.
We have a new card on order.
Thanks for your help!
