Default laptop connected but webpages won't load :(

Hi all,

as I am writing this for my friend, i'll try to be as descriptive as possible.

He has a Toshiba laptop running windows xp (about 3 years old) and a brand new Belkin Basic Wireless N150 Router (model number F7D1301)

Just had high speed internet (cable) installed in his home. he also has a brand new 4th generation iPod touch.

the high speed internet works great on his desktop, and wifi works great on his ipod 4g and my iPhone 4.

his modem is a Motorola Surfboard SB5101U

the laptop says its connected to his home network (belkin) but no webpages load. upon clicking windows diagnostic test, it tells me that the laptop will work with wireless and wired internet.

I should also note that there is a password we set on the router (WPA/WPA2) but the laptop said it connected to wifi without asking us for the password. the iphone and ipod prompted us for a password to get on wifi with them.

please help and thanks in advance.

Cheers,

george

2 things to check are

1. confirm that the nework adapter of the laptop is set to automatically acquire / obtain ip address. make sure that the laptop is not manually assigned a static ip addresss.

2.try disabling the security encryptions on the router and try connecting the laptop again and see if it will connect or not.

letme know how it went

make sure that you have the you have check the wireless network profile crated in your pc . it could be possible that your wireleess network profile crated twice, dlete network list in your wireless network settings and create a new one . and make sure that setting of the wirleess adapter is capable for your modem settings ex ( wpa or wep)
