Hello!
Firstly, if I may introduce myself, my name is Cheeseweasel and I've been meaning to get a Wireless Router for ages now. I finally got one on Wednesday and it arrived yesterday (eBay, you see). Now here comes my question and/or request.
When I looked at the router, it's an old fashioned looking thing - a big grey box with ethernet ports on the back and LEDs on the front. The only text on it was on the front; 'Wireless-B Broadband Router'. Also in the box was a little box with a port for an A-B USB cable. This was a 'Linksys Wireless-B USB Network Adapter - 2.4 GHZ, 802.11b.
I plugged in the Network Adapter and the 'power' LED came on. I then plugged in the 'router' and the 'power' and the 'Wireless-B' LEDs came on. Now, on the Network Adapter, the 'link' LED was flickering on and off - not blinking or anything - it just looked like it was struggling to stay on.
In the manual it tells me the default IP address is 192.168.1.1, and if I type that into Internet Explorer (I prefer Firefox myself) then I can access the control panel and setup to the router and Network Adapter. When I type this in, nothing happens.
I tried pinging both my own computer and the Router, and this is what CMD tells me:
Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\Kieran>ping 127.0.0.1

Does this mean anything to anyone?
If you can help me, please do because I would like to have this set up ASAP (I have 2 laptops, a Nintendo Wii and a Nintendo DS which rely on a Wireless Router).
Thanks
Cheeseweasel
