Default Linksys WUSB11 ver 2.6

Hi there peoples,
Hmm i seem to be having massive issues with the above mention bit of hardware. Its a usb wireless network adaptor. As soon as i used WEP on it it gets kicked off the wireless connection every 5-6 mins (i would know as it kept stuffing up the attempts at downloading the drivers which took 5-6 mins).

None of the drivers seem to work for te damn thing. Ive tried several different drivers. The ones on the Linksys site and on driversguide.com.

both seem to have the same problem. It just WONT pick up the drivers. The device was bought in the US, so maybe thats the problem. When i try running the setup file it crashes before it can run. Tried win 2000 compatibility mode and that work till i tried installing the drivers. Then it crashed.

Im trying in in another machine to see if that will work, but downloads for drivers going so so slow, downloads being shaped...ARGH!

No security = very very bad idea.

Hmm other than that heres an update. The monkeys at linksys havent released any new drivers for it (says theyre 2001 drivers), or they have and they just havent updated the date in the driver properties (say that theyre 2003 drivers on the d/l page)

Though surprisingly the FAQ for it is surprisingly good. Quite impressed by that.
http://www.linksys.com/support/top10faqs/wusb11/

Is the link in case anyone was curious. They gave a couple of reasons (Ill just quickly go through it to save people time)

- Interference >Solution > Change channel

- Drivers >Solution > Install latest drivers (kinda hard if theyre still 2001)

- silly as it sounds restart after installing new drivers - might try that when im setting it up, didnt think to do it in XP.

- make sure all your updates are up to scratch, you need to have some windows update for wireless apparently to make it work perfectly - Article KB10934493 or something like that.

- Set the “Beacon Interval” to 50 and Set the “Fragmentation Threshold” to 2304 if still having problems after restarting.

Hope this helps some people

thats a given

IPSEC beats the pants off WEP, I'd use that if I had a wireless lan and wanted it to be secure.

Mad-Mendez,

I have the same product and it works fine AND I got mine from the us too!
What operating system are you using? I'm running windows xp and it installs nearly straight away. This should be where I got the driver from. ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/wusb11v2.6_dr.exe If this doesn't work I will upload my driver onto my website!!!

I think the WUSB11 might be bung, it keeps dropping the connection every 10-15 mins.
Using Windows XP on both machines.

I have a feeling you are suffering from one of the features of Microsoft's XP Wireless Zero Configuration (WCZ). See here:
