Default Lost wirless connections on hpdv5 and windows vista

sorry if this is a re-post but u have been looking for weeks trying to figure this out..
fist of all im not amazing with computers but i do know a few things so if you could explain clearly with any help that would be great...

ok so i have lost my wireless connections on my hp-dv5 1000 laptop.. about a month ago i was able to pick up various wireless networks in my home including my belkin connection. now the only way i can connect is wired.
when i click start and connect to it says windows cannont find any connections. (when other computers in my house can)

i have gone to device manager an updated my athereos AR5007 802.11b/g wifi adapter so its fully up to date.
i have tried to diagnose and repair and reset the modem but nothing...

i also emailed hp and they said i should update my bios which i did and still no connections...

any ongoing help would be appreciated.
thanks
