in order to connect to the wireless network at my parents' place, my dad had to take some information from my computer to input into his. he gathered this by using a command from the 'command prompt'
i'm unable to connect to the network with just the password. i don't know what he had to get from my computer in order for the network to allow my computer access to the internet, but after it was input into his, my computer was able to connect.
i'm pretty ignorant when it comes to computer stuff and am just wondering if he is able to track my browsing history when i'm no longer connected to his network.
It sounds like he grabbed the MAC address from your network card.
My best guess is that he has MAC filtering enabled on the network, which means that only MAC addresses that he adds to the "approved" list can access the internet through that network.
No, he can't "track" what you do online by grabbing your MAC address.
