Default Newbie Wireless Problem WLAN

I have bought for my home connection a wireless PCMCIA Card and a BT Voyager 2000 Router. I established the wireless connection between the card and the router (95-100% signal).

However when trying to connect to the internet through the router interface (is there any other way?) i cannot. Reading the router manual the problem seems to be that although the DSL light on the router is on and steady the WLAN light is blinking. When i open the router interface it says DSL connection: OK, PPP Connection: Establishing, and this never changes.

The DSL line works fine on my USB modem. Does it have to do on the fact that the router is coming from the UK and I am using it in Greece? Can someone please explain me in simple terms a solution?

Thank you

The most likely problem is the DSL settings are not configured correctly for your line. Call your ISP and get the correct DSL settings off them (such as VPI, VCI, encapsulation, etc) and ensure these are set up correctly in your router.

You'll need to check your username and password for your ISP. It sounds like the PPP authentication is failing.

I'm not familiar with that specific router so I can't give you any more help, but talk to your ISP and they might be able to help you troubleshoot.

Like Jeremy said check your VPI, VCI settings etc, these change from country to country.

E.g.
Typical settings for ADSL in the UK are as follows:
VPI = 0, VCI = 38

ADSL Modulation Auto, then try G.DMT, then try ANSI T1.413
Encapsulation Mode PPP over ATM (PPPoA - RFC2364) VC-MUX
Authentication CHAP

As far as I can tell Greece is:
VPI = 8, VCI = 35

ADSL Modulation Auto, then try G.DMT, then try ANSI T1.413
Encapsulation Mode PPP over ATM (PPPoA - RFC2364) VC-MUX
Authentication CHAP?
