Default packet feedback?

Hi Y'all!
I am setting up a large 2.4ghz wireless network in Portugal..terrain very hilly so ap's are a little tricky...however, things are going very well at the moment. We have a problem on one of out network branches however. The symptoms are
great speed and connection, (on a 2Mb connection), for a short time, then the
internet slows right down to a halt for a period...then back up to speed again. This seems to happen at random intervals for various periods, but doesn't go away. If a usb Dlilnk utility is viewed during connection, when the internet is fast, there are minimal packet activity, however the internet slows when the utility shows massive packets being recieved. When the packets finish coming in..normal internet resumes.

I am concerned that there may be packet feedback between the recieve bridge and the ap that the clients connect through. The recieve bridge has a 19dbi antenna, wired to the ap 30 meters away, which has an omni directional attached.

Is it possible for the signal to loop between the two, even if they are set to different channels, and the dlink bridge supposidly is set to bridge only with a different mac address box?

mant thanks for anyone who has taken the time to read this

it could be multicast traffic flooding the link... run Ethereal on the connection and just watch what the packets are doing...

I personally have no end of problems with my dlink 810+ bridge, so I'm looking to replace it with a Senao bridge

If that's a backbone link, you might want to consider swapping it for .a (5.3/5.8GHz) gear too...

....was thinking of trying out a couple of dwl7100aps....but unsure if it would be better to avoid dlink for a solid trouble free connection...there is plenty of problems that seem to follow them around.
