Hello All,
I had a bit of a problem the other day and now my wireless card doesn't want to cooperate. The backstory: I have an external harddrive that I am sharing on an encrypted wireless network and only have two computers that use it, my laptop and my desktop. I shared it successfully and was attempting to allow iTunes on my laptop to access the drive to add to it's library. It started automatically downloading, then lo and behold Blue Screen of Death!!! No worries, I restarted the machine. Now my wireless card wouldn't work. It appears in my system-hardware-device manager group in windows xp (home ed.) with a yellow bang exclamation point on it. I have uninstalled it numerous times and downloaded updated drivers from Sony's website to fix the problem, to no avail. It claims a code 12, which says there is not enough free resources for the card to use, which seems ridiculous in that it has been fine for two years, and nothing new was added to the system to take resources away. I can't go into BIOS and manually assign IRQ's, or I would try that, and when I click on "view resources by type" in device manager, it doesn't even list my wireless card. OH MY GOD I'M FRUSTRATED! Please someone help me out!
