Default Prism 2 chipset problem with WinXP on laptop

Some PCMCIA cards with the 'prism 2' chipset are a pain in the fundamentals when trying to use with WinXP on a HP or Compaq laptop.. For example after loading the drivers in WinXP and then slotting the card home, the LED lights up then goes out, no amount of uninstalling or installing the drivers helps. Well I have a solution to this problem. Interested drop me a line.

Cheers

Default thoughts..

Are you using the supplied drivers or the MS wifi config thing? I notice on my senao cards, they both cannot run at the same time. Eg one runs, then the other, then back to first one again.

So net stumbler shows consistent patches of no signal while the system changes drivers.

For best performance i find disableing the MS Zero config.. works a treat.

Hope that helps..

Thanks have already been down that road. Users have reported that in WinXP the Wireless Network prism 2 card drivers do not properly mount the card.

Symptoms of this issue are that no network connection is established at all using the supplied drivers. Upon insertion of the card, WindowsXP prompts you for a driver name and activates the card. The NIC status LEDs activate briefly and the connection is then dropped. So have found two drivers that will work for prism 2 cards in WinXP.

Hey I had the same problem. Uninstalled so many times I got sick of it.
I insert the card. Windoze prompts for driver disk. install then it says had a problem with install. The System properties for it say that windows had a prob starting the device and that I should uninstall and reinstall.
Like a dope I did that over and over, with no luck.

Could be a conflict in IRQs or other resource with another device and the card drivers are too inflexible to reallocate. maybe??? dunno. I gave up.
Anyone else with this problem?
Anyone else solved it?

Default Problem still exist...?

Hi,

Found this thread via Google as I am having problems with my Senao 3054 pcmcia card.
The problems I have are exactly as 'JJ' describes and I am wondering if there is already a solution available to solve it.

I am using Windows XP, SP2 fully up-to-date. I tried the latest drivers from Senao and tried also some older ones. Also no conflicts visible. Shut down wireless configuration of XP as well, etc. etc. All without any positive result.

If someone can help me out? Many, manu thanks in advance!

Grz,
Martin
