Please help as I am no techie. I have a Dell Latitude D610. Everytime I boot up the laptop, it doesn't recognize my Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN-Mini PCI card and therefore the wifi light on my laptop doesn't come on. I usually have to reboot 3 or 4 times before the card is recognized or I have to uninstall the wireless card and then reinstall it. I have tried just about everything that I know of, downloading drivers, changing the channel on my netgear router, etc. I am now totally lost on how I could get my laptop to see the wireless card on my first bootup.
I am assuming you computer is in good health ie, no virus's and clean from spyware. It may have something to do with another device driver that is also loading on startup, make sure you do a general update of your other drivers including the main board chipset drivers. Was the Mini PCI card in the laptop when you brought the laptop and has it always had this problem? Could be a fault covered by warranty, ring them. Another thing to check is the Bios setting's for the mini PCI slot set them to default.
