Range Issues.

I'm trying to access a campground's wireless network. There is quite a bit of trees and such as you can imagine. There is 5 nodes in the network, and I'm on the edge of 3 of these. The company that supplies the Wireless network to the campground suggested I get a PCMCIA card to fix my issue.

So, I recently bought a Senao 200mw wireless PCMCIA card ( eBay ) to try and extend the range of my laptop's wireless capabilities. I originally had a 1.5dbi antenna, but that didn't improve the range much if any. Thus, I bought a 5dbi antenna ( eBay ) and tried it out today.

Here is what gets me. My signal actually got "nosier," thus making the range seem WORSE. Can someone try to help me troubleshoot this? I'm really lost right now.
