Default Repeater problem

Hello !

Intro:

Ok here's the deal.
My neighbor has internet spread over his house by wireless so I'm paying him to get internet too because no internet service reaches my house. He has set up the wireless antenna so I can get better signal, but I only get signal when I'm near the window.
So I bought a wireless access point which has repeater mode in it so I could expand the signal over my house too and use my laptop in other places aswell, not only near window.

Devices:

Mine: TP-LINK TL-WA501G

His: Linksys WRT54G

Problems:

1
First of all, when I try to connect to my AP, which hasn't been configured yet I get a message saying: Limited or no connectivity. I open wireless properties and manually set the internet protocol until it says: Connected.

Now i open default gateway and try to enable DHCP

What should i enter to these blanks ?

2
(May be fixed when all blanks in first problem are filled.)
Now when I have just set the AP to DHCP enabled without filling any blanks I open internet protocol again and change to automatic. Sometimes says connected sometimes limited.
So if I finally get connected I open default gateway again. I set the AP to repeater mode, click survey and choose right MAC. Reboot the AP and exit.
Now the icon on notification area shows that I'm connected to internet, but when I try to open any sites it says that I don't have connection.

Anyone know what may be the cause of it ?

Also:

Start>run>cmd>ipconfig /all (without my repeater)

Start>run>cmd>ipconfig /all (with my repeater)

Also notice that with repeater, theres no DNS Suffix

Hope someone can help me
Thx

Won't help since the connection/signal between the Ap and the router is around 30db, which is supposedly pretty good.

You mentioned your problem. It is quite possibly the enhanced mode. This mode is mainly supported by the same brand network equipment. It's a proprietary design. So if your other "similar devices" aren't from the same maker, it will have problems connecting because it doesn't really know how to use the enhanced mode.

Hi,

I have WRT54G (linksys) for 2 years now and recently just bought this TP-LINK TP-WA501G , and currently facing the same issue like you.

Not able to verify if it is really working for Repeater mode. I tried Repeater and Universal Repeater, but not able to get strong signal .

Any one can help or suggestion ?
