Rewind, FF, Play/Stop lights up all the time

If I push any of the buttons on the side of my phone when it is closed the red rewind, play/stop and ff lights light up on the outside front of the phone. Then the phone makes noises like it is taking pictures but it is not. My husband has the same exact phone but his doesn't do this at all. Any ideas? The people at Alltell said that my husband's phone must not be working properly and that there is no way to stop this from happening.
