Setting up a wireless router behind windows internet connection sharing
I'm doind something wrong but I can't figure out what. Here is the situation:
My internet connection comes from my cable modem into my PC via NIC #1. It then leaves my PC to a wireless router running dd-wrt via windows internet connection sharing on NIC #2. My roommates then connect to the wireless router via their laptops.
I know this isn't the best way to do it but i need my network to be setup this way. My computer sees the internet fine and the connection on NIC #1 works great. NIC #2 IP is 192.168.1.2 The router connected to NIC #2 IP is 192.168.1.1 subnet is 255.255.255.0 for both. Right now NIC#2 is plugged into a LAN port on the router. I tried to plug it into the WAN port so the router would think my PC is the internet connection but I can't ping or manage the router when I do.
How do I have to configure my PC/router so that the router takes the connection coming from NIC#2 and sends it out wirelessly to my roommates. Currently the router is configured like this:
Local IP 192.168.1.1 Subnet 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.1.2 Local DNS 0.0.0.0 DHCP Server Enabled Start IP address 192.168.1.100
Operating mode: Router (choices are Gateway, BGP, RIP2 Router, Router)
Dynamic Routing: WAN & LAN & WLAN
Static Routing Destination 192.168.1.2 Subnet:255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.2
Interface: LAN&WLAN (choices are WAN, ETH0, ETH1, VLAN, LAN&WLAN)
