So i went out today and bought myself a dynalink RTW 026 wireless router and got everything running, two desktops via ethernet and a laptop on wireless. No the thing is i only got this so my dad could work on his laptop on the net. TUrns out when i hookup the ADSL router/modem the internet doesnt work, sorry if im a bit noob but i need soem help on this. The manual said something about bridging the modem, when i do that nothing happens. Network is fine like file sharing etc but i cant get the net to work im guessing its some of the settings in the dsl modem. Much help would be appreiciated. Thanks
As for "*did you configure the Username and pasword, and put in the DNS server addresses into the router?
*did you tell all of your computers that the router was gateway? "
I not sure if i have to do that in the router itself. As my dsl modem is router on its own all those settings are in there ie dns server password etc. I was thinking maybe there would be a problem connecting two routers together(wireless router+adsl router) ie a confilct in settings. The modem itself connects to a wan port on the router and in the router settings it has something for the internet i have set this to dynamic (which im assuming is for adsl). It then gives me an ip for the wan port. For the wan port it gives me an ip of 192.168.1.12 so im guessing i have to change this ip in the modem itself.
Hopes this helps and doesnt confuse everyone more, thanks for the input.
Both the adsl modem and the wireless broadband have router features like dhcp, dns, firewall, port handling and so on. My problem is, I can't seem to figure out how to connect the Wireless Broadband Router to the ADSL router. I am connecting the LAN output from ADSL router to the WAN port in the broadband router. That should be correct.
I have a simialar setup, ADSL/Router and Wireless AP/Router, and ended up using 2 different networks, ie the ADSL is set to be 192.168.1.1 and the AP/Router is 192.168.2.1, both have masks of 255.255.255.0 DHCP is enabled on both.
Easiest way is to forget the wan port on the wireless router. Disable DHCP on the wireless router, and plug what you call the adsl mode (which is a router) into one of the LAN ports of the wireless router.
Before you do this, assign the lan interface of the wireless router an IP thats in the same subnet your ADSL router uses, but outside the range of what it assigns, otherwise you will not be able to get into the web interface of it to configure it again.
say for example disable the dcph on the wireless ap and assign it an ip of say 192.168.1.12? or do you mean give it an ip outside the range which the wireless ap assigns ips eg outside of 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.254
Btw the router and wireless ap use the same ranges.

Within the same range, but not the part that the router will dish out thru DHCP - you should be able to give the ADSL router a range that it will assign, I for example have the DHCP hosts being assigned from 30 to 62, and my computers that need to be fixed are put in below this, between 10 and 29

Well that will be why plugging the wan port into the ADSL router didnt work. I am not aware of any routers that can handle the external and internal interfaces being in the same subnet and sucessfully NAT between them, not to say that it couldnt be done, its just..... wrong..
When getting started I found it easier to let DHCP do its work, but you will need to set one of the routers to a different sub-net, thats the third group in the address, default value is usually 1, so make the other 2.
