sony vaio wireless connection

I am unable to make a WEP connection with my laptop. I have a Belkin ADSL router which connects fine to my other laptops.

The viao (VGN FE28GP) is able make a connection but doesn't get issued an IP address. If I switch off the WEP security on my router then its able to make a connection

I am able to connect to other non-secure wireless network the problem seems to be WEP connection.

Has anyone ever had any similar problems?

Check to make sure both laptop and router are using the same key length for WEP (64, 128, 256bit etc). Some laptops I've noticed have weird key lengths like 96, 112bit.

If that fails maybe try a different encryption, i.e. WPA instead of WEP.

i've the same problem with my Vaio VGN-FS195VP. I download the latest driver of Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG but if i set WEP/WPA encryption my laptop doesn't get connection with my intel wireless gateway (i don't remember the model gwlw????BW). Perhaps if i set my intel wireless gateway and my wireless network connection in non-secure mode i try to connect to the lan and i can 'surf' internet thru wireless connection.
