I am trying to use a D-Link DWL-G122 ver B USB network adapter on a P3-600 running Win2k service pack 4, with all current MS patches installed. With the drivers and software installed and the device connected, it refuses to show the D-Link icon in the system tray. The desktop icon and start menu shortcut both point to "AirGCFG.exe" but neither of them will start the configuration program to select my network and let me enter my WPA PSK info.
When plugged in, the system tray shows a "red X" network icon, with "LAN adapter 3 / network cable disconnected". Properties confirms the device, and the "config" button says the device is working properly.
Checking task manager precesses, I note an instance of "AirGCFG.exe" running, but not using any CPU. I can stop and restart it, but again, no user interface screen ever comes up.
After exhausting my search of the (poor) D-Link support site, I spent over an hour on the phone with two levels of support; they concluded by telling me there must be a problem with my OS and I need to contact my system vendor.
Any useful suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
