Default uninstall wireless card...

Hi there,

I have a notebook with an integrated wireless card, but the card doesn't work anymore. So I bought a new wireless card. The problem is that I can't uninstall the old wireless card definetly and both cards together makes my pc crash every time.
Every time I want to install the new card, the old one reinstalls itself again.
I even tried to delete the driver for the old card, but it reappears also every time.
So if anyone has an idea how i could get rid of the old integrated wireless card without having to open the notebook, please tell me...

Thanks in advance!

The problem is the lack of detail you provided for anyone to give you a workable solution.
1.Make and model of laptop and wireless card that is fitted.
2.What OS system are you using.
3.Make and model of the new wireless card.

Make and model of laptop would let us find out if it had a hardware wireless on/off switch or a Fn+ switch or neither.
If the wireless is switched off and the new card is plugged in does your computer still crash?
The OS would give us an idea of what "Device Manager" is used and how to disable the wireless and check for conflicts.
If you disable your inbuilt wireless card using "Device Manager" and the new card is plugged in does your computer still crash?
The make and model of your new wireless card would let us find out if it is compatible with your computer.

Sorry about that, didnīt know what information would be needed...

Iīve got a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D1840. The fitted card is a Realtek RTL8180.
Iīm using Windows XP Home Ed. SP2
The new card is a Belkin Wireless Pre-N Notebook card.

There is no hardware wireless on/off switch on my notebook, and I never saw a Fn+ Switch neither.
When the wireless is switched off and I plug in the new card, the pc crashes.
When I deactivate or uninstall the card in the device manager and plug the new one in, the pc crashes too.

So I donīt know what else I could do, except take the card out of the laptop but I canīt do that myself. So it would be great if there was a simpler solution...

Thanks in advance.

If you switch it off using the switch next to the power on/off switch then that was what I was referring to as the hardware switch as opposed to using the Fn function key combination.

I know you say you don't wish to remove the wireless card yourself but it looks easier than my Amilo L7300 to do.

It looks as if you just need to take off the bottom cover and if you look at the board below the HDD and to the right of the memory that looks like your wireless card. You can see what seems to be 2 RF connectors in the top left.

edit: I should have added that if you do decide to remove it, unplug your power supply (Battery Charger) and remove your battery first.

edit2: Looking on the FCC site the 8180 cards are pretty new, is your Laptop not still under warranty or has it just expired?

Well, first of all thanks a lot for your help.
In fact, with your description and your photos I think I might take it out myself.
I bought the notebook in 2004 so the warranty has expired...
Well, again, thanks a lot and Iīll tell you if it worked :-)

If you take the card out yourself could you tell me if it has a FCC-ID No.
May be on the screened can or on a label under the card.

Should take the form "TX2-RTL8185"
I couldn't find an actual 8180 card so I am curious whether the card merely has a Realtek 8180 chipset and has been constructed by another manufacturer.
