Default Unique case in not connecting to wireless router

I have a strange case that I've run by Comcast's engineers and they're at a loss.

Starting about 48 hours ago, I stopped receiving wireless connections to my Linksys WRT54G router. For about 16 months prior, I had a solid WPA connection. But since the other day, I was only able to connect my laptop to the router while wired. Wireless wasn't working whether WEP, WPA, or unsecured.

I then went to my local library and my laptop picked up the unsecured signal fine; this indicated to me the router may be faulty.

Today I purchased a Netgear WGR614 router--and this time I can only connect wired and unsecured wireless. I've tried WEP, WPA, and WPA2, but can't connect securely.

I am running Windows XP Media Center edition, with the Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection card. Moments ago, I updated the driver from 10.1.0.13 to 12.4.0.21 and while I can see more wireless networks, I can't connect to mine securely. Only unsecurely or wired.

Ideas? I'm thinking the only option left is the wifi portion of the network card itself may be faulty.

Thanks.

Default roll back intel driver

Pls refer to Release Notes for Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software

according to Intel release note, there is a known issue for the problem we faced.

Linksys* Access Point Association Timeout

After the association flow completes, the adapter stays awake (as in CAM mode) for 10 seconds, and then acts according to the PowerIndex (PI) regkey. PI should not be change during this period. The association timeout is 10 seconds. Using the Linksys access point, association occurs every 60 seconds, resulting in deauthentication and disconnection from the Linksys access point.

I have roll back the driver to previous version. It works fine now.

Wish you luck on this.

Default

When only one access point and one wireless client are having connection issues, you know that the client is having trouble attaching to the network. But if you have a larger network, figuring out the scope of the problem is more involved.

If some users are having trouble connecting but others can still work, one of your multiple access points is probably malfunctioning. Often, you can guess which one it is by looking at the physical locations of the users who are having the problem.

When no one can connect to the wireless network, several things could be going on. If your network uses a single wireless access point, it could be malfunctioning or contain a configuration error. The problem could also be related to radio interference or a break in the physical link between the wireless access point and the wired network.
