Upgrading Old Firmware for Nokia 1122

Hi
I have a Nokia M1122 modem with a very early version of firmware. Ver Gx1x2210.R09. It doesn't allow an "install" to upgrade the firmware even in admin mode. I can't change the passwords and a number of other features are crippled.

I have found some cryptic references on google search to a procedure to upgrade from this version but I can't find specific details.

Does anyone know the upgrade procedure?

Yes, I had already found the techie site and yes I haeve downloaded the various files. The "Upgrader" program states it will upgrade to ver R2.3.0 R04. This may, or may not, be more recent than my Gx1x2210.R09 version.

Given that my version is dated )Oct 2000 and the upgrader is dated 1/2002, it should be OK but I don't want to risk trashing the firmware. I haven't found any specific reference to anyone that has actually used this program to achieve a successful upgrade.



The firmware version I have doesn't have the option of loading new firmware like the later versions do. I have the modem running and fully configured. I just want to upgrade the firmware.

Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

I used an updater on my M1122 via console cable, and we did it on a mates one that he got cheap with dead firmware. I think its the same one from that URL, but not 100% sure.

Give it a go, if it can go into monitor mode and bring a red-light-flasher back to live, it should be fine.

Well I got it sorted after a lot of hassle.

First I tried the upgrader programme but this just locked up half-way through.

Next I tried a TFTP transfer from the <MON> prompt. I was able to wipe the firmware and reload startup.cfg file, but the main program refused to load from the TFTP server.

Then I tried loading the program using XMODEM over the CLI serial cable. This worked and I was able to get the modem up and running again.

My next mission is to attempt to get Netmeeting running. I run an IP-Cop firewall so it should be challenging.
