Default Urgent help please with wireless bridge

Howdy all, any clever folks near Whangamata???

I have installed a wireless bridge at my customers two offices, around 2-3km apart.
I am using Netgear WG302's with 10m Cables to directional ANT24DB18 antennas.

The antennas are up around 4 metres above the rooftops.

I don't have clear LOS from on the roof, but I am sure I do from where the antennas are.

I understand the basic fresnel concept, but still cant get a decent connection.

Occasionally I will get a ping responce or 3 of about 35ms, but then they drop off, I have tried a pringles cantenna off my laptop, using netstumbler, but still cant figure out where the problem is.

If I could get a PCMCIA card with an SMA connector like the orinoco cards, and hooked that up to the aerials with netstumbler would that help me?

Any and all suggestions appreciated.....

Since you're using netstumbler, can you see how many other 802.11 APs are out there?

You'll need to check this at both locations to get a real good understanding of the RF environment you're working with.

Regards
Michael

Did you use good cable to go the 10m from the AP to the antenna?

sounds like the 10m cables are killing the signal.

If I was you I'd get on the roof with a ladder and check the line-of-sight to the other antenna. Don't fall off.

They should work fine with what you have.
