Default USB from Cable Modem to Computer

Ok, I'm having trouble setting up my router. It is a Netgear Router, I can't get to the Router Admin Page no matter what I try. I have the Coaxial cable going into the Cable Modem, and an Ethernet going to my router and and Ethernet Cable going from my computer into a port on the router (all as it should be).

Here is the kicker though. I also have a USB connection from the Cable Modem to my computer. I think that is what is messing it up. When I disconnect the USB and use the Ethernet Cable only the internet does not work. I'm pretty sure it is this USB connection that is the problem. Does anyone out there know how I can disable the USB connection and get the Cable Modem to transmit the signal through the Ethernet cable?

Or help in general would work too, I'm all out of trouble shooting ideas.

Disconnect the USB cable. And then try this. Power up the router, and hit the reset button for at least 15 seconds. Then reboot the pc. See if you have internet, if not, try below.

Disconnect the USB cable. Reboot everything (power down/up). Pc, router, modem included. Allow to finish booting. Check your connection settings on the network connection on your pc. Check status, it should tell you your IP address. If it's something like 192.168.x.x (x=any number) then go to a browser, type in 192.168.(whatever this number is when you checked your setting).1
This should bring you to a login page for your router.
If it does, login using the passwords in your literature for your router. Default logins are often admin/admin (user/password) or root/admin.
If you've gotten this far, you can stumble through settings. My guess would be to default the router to factory defaults first, reboot, see if you have internet.
