Default Wireless connection issue using Linksys

I have a BFSW11S4 Linksys router and if i hard wire my T42 laptop i can connect to the Internet.
But when i try the wireless without any security (just to see if i can get it to work) my laptop sees the connection but when i select connect it can not connect.
I have tried this being with in inches of the router and across the room. No luck.
The laptop uses a built in Intel Pro/ Wireless Lan 2100 3B Mini PC adapter. Laptop is using XP.
Any suggestions?
I dont have a firewall at home on the desktop.
I am able to use the wireless at work and others use theirs at home without any issues.

Not sure where to go from here.

New router?

Thanks Drew

Try upgrading the firmware on the router to the latest version. I had trouble connecting my laptop to my linksys router when I first got it too.

Are you using Intel or Micro$oft drivers? I've had mixed success with the drivers built into XP, but installing manufacturer's drivers always gives better diagnostics, and has helped me in this situation before!

i appreciate both of your replys. Both the laptop and the linksys drivers were updated. The laptop uses the microsoft drivers.
I went to CompUSA and bought a DLink Router that supports both b and g signals. As the Linksys of mine only supports the b and it doesnt work with the windows zero configurator per Linksys website.
Any how I hooked up the DLink and shazam. All the desktops in the house work and the wireless laptop within minutes of setting it up. Very easy. I was a linksys fan till this happen. I am now a DLink fan. I know of others at work that have the Linksys routers and their hit and miss getting them to work with little success. Thanks again. Drew
