Unhappy Wireless connection router/laptop suddenly down...

Hi!

I have two computers connected to the internet via router - one desktop (line connection) and one laptop (wireless connection).

Everything was fine until this afternoon, suddenly got a notice on my laptop that lost connection to the network. No internet. The desktop on the other hand is fine, as I am posting this thread from it at this very moment

Looking at the router everything seems okay. No alerts, all green lights lit up...

I took a look at the network connections on the laptop. I found my network there, but signal strength appeared LOW, which is not normal

I've tried restarting computer, restarting router and modem... all of that stuff. Doesn't help.

Ran a couple of anti-virus scans - clean.

Not sure what to do next...

The computer: HP Pavilion DV4000

The router: 3COM 3CRWER100-75

Looking forward to hearing if anyone has any ideas... thx!!

Default could it be possible

that a neighborhas gone wirless and your laptop has selevted that router over yours? happens often to me when I am out visiting releatives. the Windows wifi connecton utility does seem to have a mind of its own. check under network connections and see if your laptop is indeed connecting to your router and not another

Hi!

2 things:

ONE: After shutting down my laptop for about an hour and powering it back on - it connected!! This happened a few days ago. Since then, the problem has re-occurred AGAIN, but did the same thing again - shut down, power back on - and it worked again.

I tried just re-starting, but that DIDN'T work. Strange....

So the problem still exists, but it is manageable.

Hi. Thanks for the input!
I tried manually connecting as well. Opened network connections and double clicked my network.
The normal windows "connecting..." message and animation came up and stayed up forever. It didn't connect.
