It sounds like something similar is happening to me too. I have tried to hook up TWO independent wireless routers (at seperate times -- one at a time) to my Terayon TJ715.x Cable Modem through RoadRunner ISP service. (all I want is to hook up one lousy wireless notebook and one PSP to the network) The same thing has happened with both routers: I hook them up, configure them just fine. They both worked like they should for about 15-20 minutes and then the internet speed (connectivity) just starts to slow to a screeching HALT, and after awhile and you can't even ping or get anything! It's like the connection just bottlenecks to nothing. BOTH routers (a Belkin and now a D-Link) produce the same results. HOWEVER, when my PC is connected by itself to the cable modem (with nothing else introduced into the equation -- as it has been for the last two years) the connection is JUST FINE. My ISP says it's not their problem, the cable modem works fine. YEAH RIGHT! It's got to be a cable modem or ISP specific issue!!! HELP! I am only at the Network+ cert. level so please be GENTLE and treat me like a kindergartener!
THANKS!
MickeyGirl: It could be your network card rather than at the router/ISP end. Have you tried using another card in your laptop or do you have a friend with a wireless laptop that can verify the problem?
Hi there. Does it work ok with just the wireless laptop and the AP without the PC plugged into the router?.
Could be an IP issue, I don't know much about your type of cable modem but have seen people with similar problems when they have two DHCP servers on one network. Do the activity lights get busy when the network halts?
Just some thoughts.. Good luck
