Default Wireless Newb, connection loss problems

Hi!

Thanks for reading!

Well in any case, I recently had the bright idea of buying my own cable modem and router. While its convenient that I dont need to connect it via wire, its performance has been VERY spotty.

I have two laptops connected, often theyre both connected and dl'ing ul'ing information at the same time. Understandably we both get some slowdown when that happens. No problemo.

My problem these days is, even when im on the connection alone, its often disconnecting and reconnecting. Sometimes its quick, sometimes it takes awhile to connect again. Well, any advice at all would be great. I dont expect anybody to solve this for me with the amount of info Ive given, but a nudge in the right direction would be awesome!

Thanks!

Default

the prime suspects in a dropout situation are:

cordless phones
microwave ovens

using the same frequency band in a different way.

wireless CCTV cameras also use the same band, but they would create continuous interference
