Have you tried the card in another computer? Last time I saw this happen the card turned out to be faulty. Funnily enough it was a Broadcom-based a/b/g card and Linksys often use Broadcom chips in their cards.

If the card was working previously in your laptop, it might be a driver problem. Try booting into safe mode and reinstalling (or even better updating) the driver and see if that fixes it.

Another possibility is a wierd compatibility issue between the PCMCIA controller in your laptop. I have had some bad experiences with 'O2 Micro' PCMCIA controllers and Broadcom based wireless cards, though this was a while back now. You can use Device Manager in Windows to check on the type of PCMCIA controller in your laptop.

Exclamation Built-in wireless card & touchpad mouse

Ok, I've been having on-going problems with my laptop (Sony Vaio) for AGES!!

It started a few months ago when my internal wireless card stopped working, I basically took it in to Best Buy to have them sort it out b/c it's under warranty and all they did was wipe my damn computer clean of all it's files. Reinstalled windows and gave it back to me.

The problems I'm having are that now the wireless card works, but i have a feeling it is causing my BSOD issues.

Whenever I go on the internet or have the wifi card "on" my mouse will sometimes freeze. I then proceed to smash my fist down on the laptop and it will start working again.... this happens a few times and sometimes it continues working properly and sometimes i get a BSOD telling me that I need a diagnostic.

I'm sick of taking this thing into Best Buy. They told me to purchase new Window's XP cds to reinstall my software, which I did. But it did nothing. I'm wondering if the mouse touchpad and wifi card are faulty together? As I've had Best Buy tell me that the Wifi card is fine.

As for Drivers... don't even get me started. I can't find any updated drivers for this wifi card. Nor is windows enabling me to find them easily.

I'm about to chuck this $2500 laptop out the window. Can anyone suggest an answer, that doesn't involve the cpu toss?

Thank you!
