wireless router not working with new modem
I recently received a new modem form my internet supplier. The new modem is a combo modem/router whereas the old modem was just a modem. The old modem worked fine with my wireless router. But the wireless router will not work with the new modem. I think it may be because I am trying to connect a hard wire router to a wireless router???
From what research I have done I think I may have to create a "bridge" between the modem/router and the wirless router? I really don't have a clue where to begin.
My internet provider is no help since they want me to scrape my wireless router and rent one from them for a monthly fee.
The modem/router is a Clear Access SmartRG. My wireless router is a D-Link WBR2310.
If anyone can offer some help I greatly appreciate it and thank you in advance.
Best to all.
Not positive I can wave the magic wand here but I am willing to try...If you had a modem and excahnged that for a modem/router I'm not sure why you want to connect the router to the old modem ? My experience is to remove the modem and replace it with the router one. I also would tend to think your new router came with CD and within a minute or two after putting that in your CD-rom the setup would be complete...Did this all happen already and that's what the problem is or did I miss something in your explaination ???
Hi! Since your new modem is a modem/router,you will not be needing your dlink anymore since you already have a modem/router which function as both modem and router at the same time so if you will be connecting your dlink, your computer will not be connected since it will be confused to which router to use. But if you still want to use your dlink even if your Clear Access SmartRG can already provide you with the wireless router capability then you have to go to the gui or gateway of your Clear Access SmartRG and put it on a bridgemode in that way you are giving up the router capability of your Clear Access SmartRG and allowing the router capability of your dlink to be in use.
If you got vista 103 error then there is a 94% chance that your computer has registry problems. To repair vista 103 error you need to follow the steps below:
« Connected to wireless - cant go online~! | Can't even get the config manager open (Edimax ew-7416apn v2) »
