Default Wireless Switch not working to turn wireless on

I have had this problem before and it is not the switch.

In a nutshell:
- I have a compaq presario V3000.
- Wireless is not working at all; cannot find wireless connections.
- When I turn the wireless switch from off to on, nothing happens.

could someone please assist me in this issue?

thank you!

If you are turning the internal wireless radio on for your Compaq and you say "nothing is happening", try looking into your Device Manager and see if the driver for the wireless adapter has triangle with an exclaimation mark next to it. It could be that your drivers became corrupt, or the internal adapter went out.

In XP (and Vista more than likely) just left-click start, then right-click "My Computer" and select Properties. Then click Hardware Tab and select "Device Manager".

Exclamation HP Laptops

My brother has an HP Pavilion dv9000 - his wireless all of a sudden did not work. I tried a bunch of different suggestions from these forums. None worked. I finally found out that his HP updates were not updating. I fixed this by trying to uninstall HP updates. There is an option that lets you repair. Once repaired, one of the updates is a warranty offering through HP that offers free repair. It takes you directly to HP's website. The problem lies with hard ware issues and has nothing to do with the software. I'd be willing to say that your wireless assistant in control panel if clicked on does nothing.

An HP dv9000 you say? That is odd, my HP dv6308 appears to be having the same problem. I am using a USB wireless adapter for now, but the original "default" card of mine just quit out of the blue. I did a bit of reading on the site, tried updating the driver. Did that, restarted, then i got the yellow triangle. I had to go back to the original driver, the one that wasnt working for me in the first place. It would seem HP has a problem with this.

This worked for me: If your HP Wireless Assistant doesn't work, the Uninstall HP Update. Then, go to the HP website, and re-download the new version of the HP Update. This will get you the new version of the HP Update, that mine had trouble updating to for some reason. After a few re-boots (because mine worked after three or four), your card should start working again(mine did). Good luck!

I have a brand new Sony Vaio vgn-nr260e. I've used my wireless switch many of times, and now all of a sudden this morning its not working. I've restarted my computer with the wireless switch off, and turned it on during start up. I've tried it with my switch on and rebooted, I've tried it multiple ways, however it is still not working. How do I fix it?
