I've had this router for a while now, worked perfect using a Cable Modem for internet, but has been nothing but trouble with a Dynamic IP DSL connection. all computers can connect to DSL hard-wired to the modem, the router can Traceroute things on the internet when hard-wired to the modem, and all devices can log into the wireless signal, but no internet is not being passed along via wireless.
things i've tried with router settings:
1.) PPPoE w/ all account names and passwords entered. result: Status page on the router shows correct DNS 1 and DNS 2, but shows zeros for everything else and says "unable to obtain IP."
2.) DHCP worked perfect for about a week (unexplainably) but then cut out again without any settings changes or new equipment editions...
hopefully my router isn't D.O.A.?? Any ideas help, thanks all! | Had a similar problem with a DSL connection using a router that had been in service at a cable connected location for months. Use the router as a bridge.
Don't allow the router to DHCP to your pc's, just use it as a bridge, allow the DSL modem to do the heavy work. See if this helps. It did in my situation, i actually just installed an old access point, and it's been great since. Using a wireless router, it continually would lose connection to the internet, but re-establish once everything was rebooted. |
