Default 3G on O2

I had a Nokia 6111 when I first started on O2 (number was ported from
my old orange PAYG). A few weeks ago I upgraded to a 6550 slide. I
understand that if I want to use any video calling features or 3G data
I need a new SIM card. Will I be able to get a new SIM and keep this
number? Will it involve some sort of 'internal' number port to a new
SIM?

Cheers

Ian

Yup, that's what they did when I went from 2G (6110i) to 3G (6680).
Took abiut 24 hours for the number to come across, as I recall.

This is migration.

Such are the standards of customer service on O2 that it is often easier and
quicker to port out to another provider and port back in again...

They send you a new SIM card then you need to ring them back again with the
details of the new SIM you've just got and they'll port the number for you.
Can involve your phone being off for a day.
