I've a few questions relating to ADSA mobile, for which I can't seem to
find answers either in their printed literature or on their website. I
was rather hoping someone here would be able to help.
- If I buy an ADSA mobile SIM and, say, £5 of credit, for how long will
the credit remain valid if it is neither completely used nor topped up?
- If the phone isn't used, for how long will the SIM (and the phone
number) remain valid?
- Does leaving it switched on (and therefore available on the network)
make any difference to the validity period?

Thanks for these. I've read them again (and again!) but still cannot
find an answer to my first question, though:

For the record the answer to my other question is 180 days:

> number) remain valid?
The trigger is making a chargeable call or buying a topup.

I would guess it's valid forever. AFAICS that's normally how PAYG works.

Most UK PAYG have to make a chargeable call at least every 6 months,
if not the sim is disconnected, and then if not reconnected within 3 to 6
months, the number and any credit is completely lost

Yes we discussed all that further up the thread

Oh, OK. Last time (feels like years ago) I looked at PAYG, credit from
at least one of the providers expired after (I think) 3 months. ISTR
Orange making a big thing about one's topup not running out with them[*]
Thanks for that.
Chris
[*] Subject to the terms and conditions in the small print. Inevitably.

Some Voda PAYG tariffs, although it seems they later reversed their
unpopular 3 month policy
I don't remember Orange ever saying their PAYG didn't time out
with disuse?
No longer available Orange OVP Virgin zero per month contract,
being a contract of course doesn't time out with disuse.
But 3 have now introduced a zero per month contract sim,
which would provide the advantage of not having a disuse period,
with full roaming, and free online Itemised billing.

You need to make or receive a call every 3 - 6 months.

Well, I have a spare car with a Tesco Mobile sim in its phone. I
finally got round to advertising it for sale this week. I was amazed
to discover that the phone still works: it is much more than a year
since the phone in that car was last used, and even longer since it
was last topped up.

I have one of those. Wonderful for low usage and occasional spikes -
like the time we were abroad and one of my children nearly re-broke her
only-just-mending arm.

I'll take a look at that alongside the ASDA charges. Thanks

My spare phone isn't remotely capable of running anything as "modern"
as Skype. Cheers, though.

You will need a 3g phone to put the 3 zero p.m. contract sim in.
3 will reject it's use in 2g only phones, even though it might work in say a
some 2g phones like Nokia 3220
3 are selling Skype S2 phones on PAYG for 39.99 at the moment,
you could swap it's 3pay PAYG sim for a 3 zero contract sim.
