Default Advice for the elderly

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can offer some advice.

My elderly father (87) and aunt(82) currently have cashback deals,
co-ordinated by me.

With cashbacks proving harder and harder to find - and with the net
monthly cost of cashbacks rising from free to around £7.50 per month, I
think that they should go for pay as you go phones on the basis that
they send no texts and probably make only a couple of calls a months on
their phones.

Whilst cashbacks were net free (albeit with a risk that the cashback
would not pay out) I was happy to recommend them to the family - but now
there must be a better way.

My question is which would be the best PAYG route to take bearing in
mind their very limited usage. They both currently have O2 phones which
I presume are unlocked - though I am not sure a I have not tested other
SIMs in them.

Thanks for any advice

Asda PAYG, calls 8p per minute, text 4p per minute, sims available
either online or in store for 50p, which includes £1 credit, Asda is on
the Vodafone network, so wide coverage.

Go for the t-mobile solo deals or a long running PAYG sim. I assume they
don't want to change phones every year so all they need is a limited
amount of credit ? Stick 10 quid or so onto a Tesco sim every 3 months.
