Default Alton Towers Hotels. A Vodafone-free zone...

How can Vodafone not have any coverage (2g or 3g) in the Alton towers
hotels? The staff say it is a well known problem there and Bt only
empty the phone boxes once a week so they are often jammed up. They
let people use the hotel phone to make a few calls if you are really
stuck.

Lots of Orange signal there so there must be a mast around there
somewhere.

Come on Voda! It's one of the country's top tourist spots!

Hmm, that's an odd one. I've used my phone to text friends at Alton Towers
if we've split up for a while, and are now trying to meet up again... Seeing
as at least one of my friends phone is a PDA style thingy, I can see this
causing problems!!

It isn't that they are trying to stop people using mobiles (or even
pdas - which is a voluntary thing and a bit of a free-advertising/
headline-grabber), they say Voda won't put a transmitter in. Maybe
Orange had to pay Alton Towers for the privilege and Voda won't?

I've just checked to see if we have any planned coverage for the Alton
Towers Hotels and we don't. Although if Orange have coverage then we
should also have coverage when our site sharing goes live.
