Default Another 'simplification'?

Orange roaming - yes, I know I shouldn't use it - charges 'per minute
billing'.

How long has that one been going on?

Probably quite a while as a lot of networks [cross] charge on that basis.

Years. Some networks increment in 30 seconds (or used to) but per minute
billing has been the norm for yonks.

S'pose that begs the question ..... why?

It seems that 'incoming calls' are still billed per second, whereas outgoing
are per minute :-(

Not in the UK. It started out like that, but competition soon put paid to
it...

The rip off is it often shows the exact call time in minutes and
seconds, and then still rounds it up and charge you for the next minute.

When they're trying to charge you £1.10 a minute for a call that should
only cost a small fraction of that, it is a bit of a rip off!

Best to use a calling card or VOIP I think

Although.....

I have infront of me a leaflet I picked up from an O shop out of curiosity a
few weeks back, titled "international calling: rates and information". I
know full well that calls initiated whilst abroad on PAYM are charged per
minute, and the website and main shop magazine does reflect this. But under
the heading of "Pay monthly, call costs while you're away"...

"All prices quoted are per minute and charged by the second".

I know it's an error, but... "whoops" springs to mind :-)

Regards

Jon.
