Default Is anyone on the '3' network? Any comments?

I am looking to change network from Orange and Vodafone have always
peeved me off in the past. O2 dont seem to have any good offers.

What about '3'? They have always been in the background but are
offering some good deals and also they have the Nokia N73 which I am
after.

Anyone on 3?

Whats good?

Whats bad?

And would you stay with them/recommend them to someone?

cheers everyone!

Yes..

Pricing seems very good. Call quality when in a 3 area is very good.
Their customer services isn't that bad compared to the telecoms and
utilities sector overall Coverage seems to gradually get better they
use the O2 network as a fallback when out of range of a 3 base system.

>Whats bad?

Battery life was a joke but seems much better now and is comparable with
GSM. Sometimes the hand over between the 3 and O2 systems falls down but
this is only for me a problem when out in the sticks. If you mainly work
in urban and suburban areas then its not a problem. Calls into the 3
network from landline phones are more expensive.

Yes with the above reservations. I've got a rather old NEC e616 which I
must get around to upgrading;! I very rarely use my 600 odd minute
allocation let alone the TxT's, and if it'd work a bit better in our
office I'd use it to make calls on more and wouldn't use the landline so
much, but then again the other nets are no better in there as we're
surrounded by trees and a lorra metal!. All in all for most users their
as good as any now.

We have fones on all the nets except T-Mobile and I'd rate Vodafone
first for coverage and reliability then 3, O2 and Orange being much of a
muchness among the others!.

I at the moment use the O2 on PAYT for incoming as we have a lot of
diverts from out ntl landline phone and we've got a good deal from ntl
into the O2 net at 8 odd pence a minute, and use the 3 for outgoing
calls which may seem a bit of a pain but its no problem. I keep an Old
vintage 2110 on Voda PAYT in a car kit in the car just in case!.

Well connected eh;??.....

Hmmmmm

Sounds very tempting - seeing as I am going to be getting a new phone.

Thanks for your comprehensive feedback!

Do look through this group for posts about their customer service.

Do read their T&C carefully or Google for "Luneberg Heath".

Do check any phone you purchase for damage - e.g. superglue in the SIM slot.

Do make sure that anything agreed is actually contained in the written
agreement.

etc.

Yes you can access any internet site, plus it's a £5 for 15mb. I've found
them far better than Orange and pleased I moved.

Well I've heard they superglue their sims into the phones they supply.

Additionally, a work colleague of mine was with them and called them
with a problem........she was put on hold while the person she spoke to
went to fetch her file.

Visions of wall-to-wall filing cabinets...............

Insaine cashback deals, Hutchinson throwing money at dealers to sell phones

Recently took a SE K608i on VT&T 1100 with 100% cashback.

Roaming handover to O2 has much improved.
Remaining mins/text/etc on 333 option 1/1 is updated in seconds and
accurate.
The garden wall has gone.
3G handsets are at last a resonable size.
At mo, talk and text doubled for first 3 months, and some free data.
Also MSN messenger free till next month.

I would now, never in the past
As long as you're happy with being on 2G roaming with it's
limitations more often that you are on 3G.
If not, go for Orange 3G or Voda 3G

Check out the up to 100% 3 (and other networks)

Yes, and then they put so much subsidy on them,
you get the phone for the price of it's charger.

What do you want them to do, use jam instead of superglue?

Price. LG's tough-as-nails phones.

International service. The damned phones simply just won't roam in most
countries and you can't send text messages to them either. It is terrible
for contract phones and a joke for PAYG.
Indian call centre. Although it can be avoided, their advice is 95%
guaranteed to be wrong.

> And would you stay with them/recommend them to someone?

Yes, but carry a Vodafone around with you too if you are outside of O2 range
or outside of the country.
