Default anyone hard reset a XDA mini?

I want to do a hard reset on my XDA mini.
The manual says to turn it off, then press the "comm manager" and "voice
command" button at the same time then press reset. When the screen displays
the message "Press Send to restore.", then press "Send" button.
However I do all that and all that ever happens is a soft reset. I never get
the "send to" screen. I've tried it with the phone and the phone on and I
still can't do it! Any suggestions?

Hold the top keys on the left and right hand side then pres the stylus
in the reset hole on the r-side.
To press send, press the answer (green) key.
By the way, if you want to delete your customization (e.g. if TMobile
unit), when it says a message about customizaion (just after screen
calibration), soft reset before the customization starts (you get 3
seconds to do this).
Hope this helps.

Many thanks for that tip about the soft reset after hard reset; I've
now been able to get rid of all that orange stuff on my M3100 ie
battery icon now gone and replaced with clock, grey unreadable dial pad
now gone and replaced with more sensible blue colour etc etc.
