Apple iPhone now available to pre-order in UK...

Well the stampede is about to start...

Mobileshop seem to be the first online mobile phone retailer to make
the Apple iPhone available as a pre-order contract phone.

The iphone can be pre-ordered now on Vodafone and o2 12 month tariffs
and had for a total minimum term cost of £420!

Not a bad initial price in my opinon for the 'must have' phone of the
year.

I am not entirely sure how they can offer it on both o2 and vodafone
networks as everything in the press so far has led me to believe it
was one network or the other with exclusive rights...

if that includes the line rental it seems cheaper than the US ?
still comical pricing though given the low spec (touchscreen
notwithstanding).

That is including line rental over the year yeah - it seems cheap to
me for an initial price.

If you compare this price to the New Nokia e90 which has just been
released in the UK with some retailers - that is available for a
minimum term cost of £799.99 which is almost double the cost of the
iPhone!

Once the phone is available across many retailers (especially online
ones) I am sure this price will fall a bit too as the UK mobile phone
market is a very cut throat business but no matter what the price I am
sure the Apple fans will snap the iPhone up.

It will be interesting to see if the UK model gets 3G or other
enhancements compared to the US version too...
