Area code display (Vodafone)

Sorry to resurrect a previous thread but I have just travelled on a
long journey and for most if not all of the time the area code was
displayed on my phone. Here in Glasgow is is no longer displayed.
Have we been upgraded or downgraded?

It's Glasgow...nothing works......

It used to be like that, especially in urban areas (I have to admit that
Glasgow is urban) but much rarer elsewhere. I don't know who makes those
huge square umbrella-awnings that pubs erect in their car parks, but
they must have coined it in.
