Default Best contract around £20 a month?

We've been looking for a contract for our daughter. "3" have been a total
disaster on the customer relations front and although they have some
reasonable deals, we're not going there again, ever.

Looking for as much inclusive cross network time and as many texts as
possible included in the deal.

Any suggestions?

Tim

Depends if you wanted a new phone or not? A SIM only deal would give
you more mins/text for your money but wouldn't include a phone.

Orange have a new £15 plan with 100 mins, unlimited texts and i think
a magic number(?) on an 18 month contract

Vodafone have £10 per month off their £35 a month tariff at the moment
so 500 mins and unlimited texts for £25 see

If you still have the 3 contract phone, why not put a 3 PAYT sim in it?

3 PAYT stretch 21 will give you 700mins or text, and 300 on net mins as
well,
for a 21quid top up a month.

That's the one we ended up going for. A bit more than we planned but being
realistic about my daughter's mobile use at uni, it seems a good deal. 3
months free insurance too which is a bonus.

I went for the Vodafone deal. Very happy with vodafone - really good
customer service (so far!) and coverage great.

Only slight initial annoyances were:
1) call waiting isnt enabled by default - call *43# to activate it
2) default ring before going to voicemail is 15 seconds (too short in my
oppinion) - call **004*121*11*25# to extend to 25 secs
3) your notified of new voicemails by a text - you can change to the
"proper" voicemail icon alert (tape symbol o_o) by calling 121 then option 4

Be more realistic in your expectations (I want as much stuff as possible
for as little money as possible).

That's bad luck, i've had several 3 contracts and all were delivered OK,
trying to get the cashbacks from the dealers I'd bought them from was
another story.

Have you thought of buying a 3 phone through a dealer like CPW?
I know I wish I had.
I'm very satisfied with 3 tariffs, network coverage is OK,
CS has been OK on the few times i've had to use them.

Only mistake I made was to try and get a bob or 2 more on the cashback deals
from small dealers, over the safe ones from OSPS/e2Save, and CPW

Do you know if this gets rid of the text alerts for voicemail? I'd
love to be able to get rid of them for my phone they're so annoying.

If you are on their new "next generation" voicemail then yes. Just call 121
and from the main menu, option 4 then 3 then 4 (called "icon alert")
If your on vodafone's old voicemail then icon alert isn't available but
you'll be migrated to the new voicemail in the near future so keep checking.

Same here with me

I've had 3 contract for many years and one on PAYG, I've contacted 3 CS a
few times and they've been fine but, in all honesty I can't understand why
anyone would want to contact a providers CS often enough to warrant it a
decission making difference

In 3's first couple of years, their Itemised Billing was so cocked up,
calling 3 CS was a necessary.

IMHO 3 is now what it should have been, unfortunately it will take years to
live down it's lousy reputation
