Default Best Deal for European Trips

Just been badly burned by BT. Thought I had activated "My Europe" but
texted 2266 instead of calling it. Strange that this service is not
automatic when it is free but I guess mugs like me will continue to be
caught out.
Anyhow, although UK based, with two phones on small business package
and most calls withinthe UK until this last week, it looks like I
shall be making a few trips to Switzerland as family member is ill in
hospital there. While away I have to make frequent calls from
Switzerland or France back to UK and also to Swiss based mobiles.
Having attempted to understand the various tariff offerings from
several companies I am none the wiser but would gladly dump BT.
Anybody have similar calling profile and suggestions?
Many thanks,
Alastair.

Given your usage, I would suggest Vodafone Passport where calls will be
at your usual UK rate (or come out of UK inclusive minutes) plus a flat
75p connection charge:
