Default Best monthly SIM only data plan?

I see that there is very little in terms of value for money to be had in
terms of monthly SIM only data plans.

Vodafone has nothing to offer at a reasonable price; nor does Orange; the
Virgin Liberty SIM is okay but the cheapest seem to be O2 (? the best) and
T-Mobile (although the "fair use" policies make it even more complicated).

If I have a perfectly good phone and just want a monthly SIM only contract
with a heavy emphasis on data (very little voice and text) which is the best
to go for?

Are there any virtual providers which offer a better service than O2, Virgin
and T-Mobile?

Gareth.

Virgin do this:
http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/simCardOnly.do
Virgin 15 P/M, 300 Minutes + Unlimited Texts.
http://www.virginmobile.com/vm/gener...Use%20Policies
"Unlimited texts: Unlimited texts are subject to a fair use allowance of
3000 texts per month. If your usage exceeds this amount then we reserve the
right to charge you for the excessive element of your usage at the text rate
for other mobile networks for your tariff outlined in our Tariff Table.
Unlimited use is within the UK and is for your personal, non-commercial use
only. It doesn't include texts to shortcode services, group text, or picture
messages and any of these uses will be charged at the text rate for other
mobile networks for your tariff outlined in our Tariff Table."

Huh? Nowhere to be found on the Three website. 5 a month for SIM access to
GPRS?

Oh wow, yes, I see it - but it isn't one month contract SIM only - just
PAYG. Why don't they offer anything even remotely similar on a 1 month SIM
only contract?

Does 3 PAYG support GSM location services?
