Default Blackberry Bold\curve

Heres my plan (will it work) I want to buy a blackberry bold or curve from
ebay or a shop. Have it unlocked which I think is possible.

Pop my virgin sim in which gives me 200 minutes and 200 texts for £10 a
month ... pay is it blackberry themselves ? £5 to get email and have
unlimited internet ?

Will that work or am I dreaming :-) ...I'm trying to get a blackberry
without going contract as 200 minutes is more than I need with virgin.

NEVER buy phones from ebay. always buy new from a shop.
Most shops sell phones unlocked these days esp CPW.

You have to pay the /network/ for BlackBerry service.

AFAIK, Virgin don't offer BlackBerry yet. (ICBW)

I wouldn't attempt to get a locked BlackBerry unlocked for use on
another network. The voice side's not too bad but getting data to work
on the "wrong" network is another thing......notwithstanding the
dangers of buying a phone from Ebay, of course.

I have been lucky and have bought several Blackberrys for myself, family
and friends. They have all been unlocked and have all worked perfectly -
with data and also with Blackberry services - even on a different
provider to the one they were originally locked to.

The one critical thing you must ask the vendor, if you intend using the
Blackberry e-mail service, is if they have released the PIN from the
current account. Without the Blackberry PIN being released, you cannot
assign it to another provider and thus cannot get e-mail to work. If the
vendor has purchased a replacement Blackberry, then by registering the
new Blackberry on the same e-mail account, they have released the PIN
and you can use the phone on any network.
