Default Bulldog - ISP or Phone company? (switching to Orange)

Hi,

I'm thinking of switching from Bulldog unlimited 8MB to Orange
unlimited 8MB, as I have a new Orange mobile contract which meets
their requirements for £5pm broadband.

In order to switch, must I return to BT (or another provider) for my
landline?

Bulldog customer services told me they don't do a phone-only deal,
only broadband+phone, so I cannot keep my line rental with Bulldog and
drop the broadband.

Any thoughts? ...other than that Bulldog or Orange or BT are rubbish,
or that Zen are fantastic :-)

Thanks in advance

IDNet (my ISP) actually 'score' better than Zen at thinkbroadband.com and are
slightly cheaper than Zen but otherwise are a very similar outfit in most
respects.

Its unlikly that you iwll be able to keep your line rental with
bulldog. Most other ISP's use BT's LLU network so if you want to use
those isp's your line needs to be owned by BT. Other option is to
ditch bulldogs phone service and go for Virgins upto 24meg package
with Phone if you can get cable. But I dont have them so but i hear
thier broadband can have some problems, but even so they do have over
3mil customers so they are bound to have more complaints. all the
people i know have had thiwer broadband before Virgin Media Brought
NTl,Blueyonder, Telewest.
