Default Bye Orange

Well, I've been mumbling about it for ages, but I've finally arranged to
swap our 14 company phones from Orange to Vodafone and have requested
the PAC codes today - Orange took it all in their stride; not a hint of
concern from the droid on 158 but I was asked to email my request to the
retentions team so I wonder if they'll bother to try and keep us!?

The Business team at Vodafone were very helpful and easy to reach on the
phone - just like Orange used to be - and the two year bundled deal we
were offered looks to slash our call costs by around £150/month

FWIW we are looking to offer our team either the Qtek 9100 or Nokia E70
phone - we like the wifi (we have a VoIP phone system) and keyboards,
for emailing/SMS; both units are a reasonable size too - anyone have any
thoughts about these phones?

Before you decide to go to Voda direct, I'd be happy to give you a
quote for a Voda Business Service provider - it may be a better deal -
my email address is my full name with no dot at my business name dot
com if you're interested.

Whether you go for Voda direct or not, I would strongly recommend the
3g Voda v1605 (aka Vario ii aka M3100) - I have supplied a lot of these
over the last couple of months and have the M3100 myself.

If you happen to be located anywhere within the M25, I'd be happy to
let you test one out.

Whatever your thoughts on Simon's promotion of his business, he is on the
money with the recommendation of the Voda v1605, which is an upgraded verson
of the Qtek 9100 you mentioned.

Benedict.

Thanks but the 1605 doesn't have the slide out keyboard nor WLAN so I'd
not describe it as an 'upgrade' from the 9100.

Ah, you're right - sincere apologies and many thanks for that - the
features and spec pages on the Vodafone site happen to not mention the
keyboard and WLAN although they are on the basic description page.

Serves me right for diving straight into the (not-so) detailed spec page.

Simon,

Further to my previous, I have checked out the 1605 and some reviews
refer to buggy earlier versions - ie:

Screen alignment, open/closing email app locks any open email (can't
send or access it). Are these problems still 'in the wild' for new phones?

Can anyone else comment - the relevant Web-based forums are full of
discussion on these issues?

Thanks

I suspect these faults applied to the earlier versions only
(particularly v1605). None of the units I have supplied (v1605, Vario 2
and M3100) have had any issues.
