Default Caller ID problem when roaming

I have an i-phone 3Gs on Orange
When roaming in N Cyprus on the MTN network, the phone doesn't seem to
want to bring up the name of the person who is calling me, despite
having the +447x stored in the memory
The CLI that it sends is 00447x, but even after adding this as a
separate number to 1 of my contacts, it still doesn't bring the name.
Then when you look at the 'recent' calls about half an hour later, it
shows the name correctly!

Any thoughts?

Are there corresponding 07 national entries in the phone book?
I think some phones get confused if there are, as the "match" to the name is only made with
a few least significant digits. So try deleting *all* the duplicates leaving just the +44
entries.

Most of my contacts are stored as +447x

I just added the 0044x to try and 'emulate' the CLI that showed on the
screen, but it didn't make any difference!

But did you delete the +44 version and leave only the 0044?

I don't know why the +44 version didn't work but what I do know
is multiple entries of the same number in different formats will often make the phone
incapable of displaying any name. It's a commonly seen problem.

No!

Hmm, don't want to change all the +44 and replace with 0044 and then
have to change them back again when I go to Italy!
